Sports you participate in:
I am game for anything you can do on a river or a mountain. I really enjoy snowboarding, kneeboarding, kayaking, hiking, and trail-running.

Favorite Legion exercise:
I worship kettlebell getups and swings. Switch grip pull-ups are right up there too.

Most hated Legion exercise:
I have a love hate relationship with most of Steve’s exercises. Power yoga rocks but I hate that I’m terrible at it. Jumping up and down during cardio is the worst! Bench hangs and super sphinx are beasts, too.

What made you start training at Legion?

Back in April 2009 I wanted to change my life. I was sick of the sedentary lifestyle I got accustomed to throughout college. It got worse once I graduated and got an office job. I wanted to be healthy and achieve a high level of fitness. The first day I arrived to meet Steve was at the last 5 minutes of a class. The students were cranking out tons of pull-ups and pushups. It looked painful & I was extremely intimidated. After they finished I watched all the tired sweaty people smiling and high fiving each other. It was that moment I decided to not be intimidated and to just buy into Legion. I wanted what they all had. I knew I had to start from somewhere.

Why do you keep coming back?

That’s easy! Because Legion pushes you harder than you will push yourself. Almost immediately after joining Legion I shed 10lbs and the gained back about 15lbs of muscle. Its laughable how physically unfit I was when I started. I could barely do any pushups and pull-ups seemed impossible. What kind of fitness do I have now? Thanks to Legion I can hang with the best of them, but I still want to go farther. I know Steve will keep mixing it up and challenging me along the way.

Additional comments:

Ask yourself how many times you just piddled around the gym and gotten little to zero results. I joined other gyms before and got nowhere. Workouts were never something I looked forward to and bodybuilding never appealed to me. Legion’s high intensity workouts are the way to go. Functional/practical fitness is exactly the kind of fitness I want. There is no “calf day” at legion and I love that. I’ve become stronger and my body looks the way it was intended to. Keep in mind that these workouts are not easy for anybody. It doesn’t matter if you’re a former collegiate wrestler or a house mom. You will fit right in line. Anyone who gives 100% will have a awesome/killer workout.
